Ann's Bio
After officially retiring in 2008 I returned to my favorite crafts and began painting in both watercolors and oils. I took courses at the Sarasota Adult and Community Education center, Selby Gardens, Art Center Sarasota, and classes with local professional artists.
In 2007 my husband, Bob, and I began taking four-month camping trips each summer going around the US and Canada seeing and experiencing the beauty of parks, cities, countryside and meeting interesting people. We have also taken several trips through Europe....I would like to camp through Europe, maybe someday. My challenge now is to try to do justice to these beautiful places and experiences in paintings in watercolor or oil.
Bob and I have three beautiful children and their families and four grandchildren so spending time with them is a big part of our summer camping destinations. My mother was a decorative artist who had shows in Tequesta and Palm Beach, and our granddaughter is already a talented artist.
For twenty-five years I worked in Human Resources and Learning and Development for Bloomingdale's By Mail in Connecticut and Telecommunications, Inc., AT&T Broadband, and Comcast in Pittsburgh, retiring from Comcast as Director of Learning and Development for the Mid-Atlantic Region in 2005. In Sarasota I worked 2007-2008 as Human Resources Manager and Special Projects Manager for Surgical Outcome Support of North Palm Beach, FL. Currently maintain web sites for Women Contemporary Artists, Encore of Sarasota, and recently Newcomers of Sarasota and the Celery Barn Gallery.
I performed consulting work in Human Resources and Organizational Development for a brief time in Pittsburgh and Sarasota after retiring and kept my "carneyconsulting.com" domain name.
